THE KARMA OF A WAR MACHINE



On the way to police post, I find a kid playing over a derelict, graffiti-covered, Russian military vehicle, on the left side of the road. Russian troops withdrew from Afghanistan in 1989, leaving behind all sorts of toys European boys could only dream of. At least, the tank now redeems itself playing a more useful role than the one that was meant for. The world is sadly full of examples: in Vietnam, the carcasses of American bombs are used to build houses...
